Jeremy KapinosWith Daniel Sepulveda headed to injured reserve with a torn ACL, the Steelers have found a new punter in ex-Packers punter Jeremy Kapinos (right).

Kapinos, a former Penn State star, has kept his suitcase packed as a pro. He punted briefly for the Jets in 2007 (one game), then got a four-game tryout with the Packers in 2008. The Packers liked him enough to keep him around for 2009 (he averaged 43.8 yards gross and 34.1 yards net in his only full season). But the Packers weren't that enamored with Kapinos' punting, so they dumped him during the offseason. He did get to punt for the Colts for one game, but was quickly dumped again.

Kapinos does have experience punting in bad weather, but at the same time, he ranked 31st in the NFL in net punting in his only full season, so it's not like the Steelers are finding a hidden gem. They just hope he's serviceable.

Sepulveda also blew out his knee in 2008. That year the Steelers suffered through Mitch Berger's mediocre punting for the rest of the season. Of course, that season also resulted in a Super Bowl title, so Pittsburgh wouldn't mind seeing history repeat itself.
