Matt Diaz Gets 2-Year Deal With Pirates
Diaz, 32, has been a valuable player for the Braves the last five seasons, playing mostly left field and excelling against left-handed pitching. In his career, he has a .335 average and .907 OPS against lefties, compared to .269 and .710 against right-handers.
He could end up in a right field platoon with Garrett Jones in right field in Pittsburgh, or the Pirates could have other moves in mind to accommodate Diaz.
Diaz is the third player signed by the Pirates this week, along with pitchers Kevin Correia and Scott Olsen.
