Fantasy FanHouse's "Bust a Move" segment provides quick-hitting insight on the most popular adds and drops across Fleaflicker fantasy leagues when the waivers clear on Wednesday of each week. Knowing who is on the move during this period often provides a valuable edge with regard to outperforming or underperforming players, injuries and depth chart shifts. So do as the man says, "Don't just stand there..."The Adds
Chris Ivory (RB, Saints, 2,661 adds) - It's moments like this when it truly baffles me to write this segment. How is it possible that Chris Ivory isn't owned in at least 80 percent of leagues after he dropped 117 yards rushing and two touchdowns last week, after scoring three touchdowns in the previous two games? Your guess is as good as mine, but according to our data, Ivory is owned in just 40 percent of leagues at the time of this writing. Importantly for Ivory suitors, keep a close watch on the New Orleans situation as the coaching staff claims they are not planning to mess with his carry distribution, but Reggie Bush is back and Pierre Thomas isn't far off. I'd be surprised if Ivory carries a full load once Thomas returns to regular action.
Ben Watson (TE, Browns, 2,374 adds) - The tight end woes continued last week as Heath Miller suffered a concussion, Todd Heap strained his hammy and Joel Dreessen suffered a rib injury. Hence, Ben Watson served as the next best option for owners in need of a potential replacement, or simply an upgrade, as Watson caught 10 passes for 100 yards and a touchdown. Watson hasn't showed much in the way of consistency this season, but he has put up big games on a number of occasions, so he makes a worthwhile addition.
James Starks (RB, Packers, 1,847 adds) - Rookie running back James Starks looks poised to be the leading ball carrier for the Packers for the remainder of the season. He tied a Packers season-high 18 carries last week and made good on the opportunity with 73 yards rushing. He will not likely be an "every-down" kind of guy, with Brandon Jackson, Dimitri Nance and John Kuhn still in the mix, but he's definitely the one with the upside. Besides, one breakout game for Starks and all bets are off. I suspect he becomes a solid fantasy threat down the stretch.
Tashard Choice (RB, Cowboys, 1,781 adds) - With Marion Barber undergoing treatment for his calf injury, Tashard Choice gained 100 yards rushing with a touchdown on 19 carries last weekend. Meanwhile, Felix Jones totaled a more pedestrian 83 yards on 22 carries. Coach Jason Garrett reiterated that with his performance, Choice earned himself a larger workload, so Tashard makes a nice addition heading into the fantasy playoffs. The question remains: what happens to this committee when Barber returns? Well, Choice has been the first back to show real fire in his running, so with the way things have been going for Dallas, expect to see plenty more from Choice and less of everyone else.
Falcons (D/ST, 1,570 adds) - These folks are using their heads. I actually tagged the Falcons as my top start this week in the D/ST rankings, as they face the lowly Carolina offense. This is a really nice spot start in a week where a big play from the fantasy defense can mean everything. For team owners facing tough matchups from their regular defense, such as Chicago against New England or Baltimore against Houston, this is your safe haven for the week.
The Drops
Dez Bryant (WR, Cowboys, 2,576 drops) - Just a week ago, Dez Bryant was flirting with Rookie of Year honors and in the midst of becoming a rising fantasy star. This week, he's on the injured reserve and dunzo for the season with a fractured tibia. It's a shame to see such a nice rookie season take a bad turn, but Dez certainly made his mark in 2010.
Toby Gerhart (RB, Vikings, 1,352 drops) - Hey, it was worth a try, right? When Adrian Peterson limped off the field two weeks ago, fantasy owners sprinted to their waiver wires to nab his backup. Well, Peterson put those thoughts to bed in a hurry, as he bounced back last week with 107 yards rushing and three touchdowns. Gerhart did manage 54 yards, but his role remains that of a backup.
Todd Heap (TE, Ravens, 1,019 drops) - In reference to his strained hamstring, Todd Heap has given no indication that he'll be rushing back to the field in time to make a difference for the fantasy playoffs. In fact, Heap has said things to the effect of, "it's felt better" and "we're not rushing it." At this point, you need production every week, and Heap is not going to provide much of a service for fantasy playoff contenders. You're better off hitting the wires.
Mike Goodson (RB, Panthers, 976 drops) - The ride is over for Mike Gooodson in Carolina, as Jonathan Stweart resumed his starting role and gave the coaching staff no reason to second-guess the decision. Stewart ran for 92 yards and a score, while Goodson served in a secondary capacity. Adding insult to injury -- or injury to insult I should say -- Goodson also suffered a shoulder injury. This ship has sailed. Move along.
Keiland Williams (RB, Redskins, 957 drops) - Despite starting the game, Keiland Williams took a clear backseat to James Davis in the Redskins backfield last week, carrying just five times for 29 yards while losing a fumble. Davis did better -- but not by a whole lot -- adding 40 yards rushing on nine carries and 41 yards receiving on three catches. This backfield is an all-around bust and the team is collapsing, so there's really no reason to bother with either option.
