The latest example came Tuesday night as McNabb took in the Lakers-Wizards game at the Verizon Center. Surely, Washington sports fans would either offer McNabb polite applause, or at the very least, do nothing since the Redskins are struggling. Nope. As has been the case for most of McNabb's professional life -- starting with the moment he was drafted -- he was booed. The magnitude of the booing depends on who's telling the story.
DC Sports Bog's Dan Steinberg has the details:
Since I posted this, several other folks chimed in on Twitter. Holden Kushner from 106.7 The Fan estimated that the ratio was 70-30 cheers. Jack Kogod, a longtime Wizards and Redskins fan, put it at 60-40 boos. SB Nation's Mike PRada called it 50-50. Others suggested that it was primarily Lakers fans who were booing McNabb, and that the booing was "not hardcore."So if there's a silver lining it's that, at best, only half the home crowd booed McNabb. Which, I suppose, is progress from his days in Philadelphia. Plus, it could be worse: he could be Hunter Smith.
