Oscar De La Hoya to Saul Alvarez: Don't Drink, Party, Chase Ladies
Golden Boy Promotions President and former world champion Oscar De La Hoya has some advice for Mexico's 20-year-old, WBC silver belt titlist Saul Alvarez (35-0-1, 26 knockouts): Dont drink, party or chase the ladies.
Alvarez will return to the ring in March, perhaps in Los Angeles, and, potentially in an HBO televised bout against WBA welterweight (147 pounds) champ Vyacheslav Senchenko (31-0, 20 KOs), Golden Boy Promotions' CEO, Richard Schaefer, told FanHouse recently.
Alveraz has won 31 consecutive fights during a run that has included 11 knockouts in the past 13 bouts, having fought only four times on American soil.
Alvarez has been compared favorably to Mexican greats such as 37-year-old WBO and WBA lightweight (135 pounds) titlist Juan Manuel Marquez (51--5-1, 38 knockouts), come-backing, 34-year-old former three-time world champion, Erik Morales (51-6, 35 knockouts), and 36-year-old, five-time, three-division champion, Marco Antonio Barrera (66-7, 43 KOs).
