The UConn Huskies have won an astounding 89 consecutive games, a record for Division I college basketball.

The Huskies defeated Florida State 93-62 Tuesday night at home by doing what they normally do: sharing the basketball, recording 21 team assists in the game.

The Huskies surpassed the previous record set by the UCLA Bruins men's team who won 88 games in a row between 1971-1974.

Maya Moore contributed a career high on this historic night, scoring 41 points. Her previous career high was 40. It was the second most in school history.

The adoring home crowd, who was rather quiet for most of the blow out, was boisterous at the end of the game, standing and chanting, "89! 89!" as the clock ran out.

"It's hard to describe it, the last couple minutes of the game, everyone has their signs and everything," UConn coach Geno Auriemma said after the game. "It's pretty amazing, its pretty amazing. It really is. ... how difficult it is to play that many games and win them all."
