Last night, the UConn women's basketball team crushed Florida State, 93-62. The Huskies now hold the longest winning streak in college basketball history.
The new record, 89 straight wins, topples the previous record, held for almost 40 years, by the UCLA men's team. The Bruins' record of 88 straight victories dated back to the 1971-74 teams, under coach John Wooden.
UConn couldn't have made history without senior Maya Moore. The forward from Georgia scored a career-best 41 points in last night's game.

Her father, Mike Dabney, was a guard for the Rutgers men's team in the '70s. In 1976, his team reached the Final Four. Her mother installed a basketball hoop on a door in their apartment when Maya was just 3. -

She averages 25.5 points per game and ranks fourth in UConn women's career-scoring leaders, with much of the season left to play.
