Arthur RhodesJourneyman reliever Arthur Rhodes will play for the eighth different team of his career in 2011. The left-hander agreed to a one-year deal with the AL champion Texas Rangers Thursday, a source told FanHouse.

Rhodes' deal with Texas is pending the completion of a physical and includes a vesting contract option for 2012.

Rhodes, who has pitched for the Orioles, Mariners, Athletics, Indians, Phillies and Marlins, has spent the last two seasons with the Cincinnati Reds.

He had a 2.41 ERA over those two years, and was particularly impressive in 2010, posting a 2.29 ERA in 55 innings of work. This year's marks were good enough for the left-hander to garner his first-ever All-Star appearance at the age of 40.

The Rangers are expected to officially announce the deal sometime next week.

Lefty relief help is just one of the Rangers' needs, says Steve Phillips:
