Before they meet in next weeks Winter Classic, the Penguins and Capitals renewed their rivalry on Thursday night with another entertaining game that ended with a 3-2 Pittsburgh win thanks to a Pascal Dupuis goal in the seventh round of the shootout.

The game featured some stellar goaltender from Marc-Andre Fleury, who has rebounded quite nicely after a disastrous start to the season that saw him lose playing time to veteran backup Brent Johnson. During the Penguins recent stretch that has seen them win 17 of their past 20 games, Fleury has been on top of his game, and was sensational -- perhaps a game-saver -- during their win in Washington.

He turned aside 32 of the 34 shots he faced through regulation and overtime, and was arguably Pittsburgh's best penalty killer as it found itself shorthanded six times, including a pair of 5-on-3 situations throughout the game. His best save of the night, however, came in overtime when he robbed Capitals defenseman Mike Green as he walked in for what appeared to be the game-winning goal.

In other news: Sidney Crosby scored a goal in the first period to extend his point streak to 23 consecutive games. Alex Ovechkin recorded five shots on goal in regulation -- and absolutely crushed Evgeni Malkin early in the first period -- but was held off the scoresheet. He did score in the opening round of the shootout.
