Brett Favre is looking increasingly unlikely to play Sunday in the Minnesota Vikings' season finale, as he still has not been cleared to return from a concussion. The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports that Favre on Wednesday failed the neurological test that all NFL players must pass before being cleared to return to the field from a concussion.
Vikings coach Leslie Frazier says Favre will start at quarterback for the Vikings if he's healthy, but failing the neurological test makes it seem more likely that he'll sit out and that rookie Joe Webb will start for the second time.
Sunday is expected to be Favre's last game as an active NFL player, as he has said repeatedly this season that he won't return next year (and this time he seems to mean it). So Favre would like to be able to take the field for a swan song. But the indications now are that he simply won't be able to play.
