That's because despite Apple's assurance that the phone's alarm clock would work properly on Monday, a software glitch had some iPhone users running late for the first working day of 2011.
The snafu was reported in the iPhone's non-recurring alarm, and users are already searching for downloadable alternatives to the built-in system.
Some took to Twitter to vent their frustrations.
iPhone alarm didn't go off for me this morning. Now have 15 minutes to get ready for work. Spending them tweeting about having no time.
Come on Apple, I thought the iPhone alarm bug was supposed to "correct itself" by this morning? Thank goodness my internal alarm kicked in!
Even the (fictional) Queen of England faced iPhone alarm issues:
Mr Jobs, were you not anticipating 2011 when designing the iPhone? One has missed almost an entire day's reigning thanks to the alarm clock.
The excuse probably won't work on day three:
Despite assurances to the contrary from Apple, my iPhone alarm failed again this morning. Wonder how many times I can use that as an excuse.
Then again ...
The mom I sit for saw a piece on the news about faulty iPhone alarms on the same morning my iphone alarm never went off #excused
Even at full functionality, the alarm still has one fatal flaw:
I thought the iPhone alarm bug victimized me this morning. Turns out the "bug" was me not setting the alarm in the first place.
But don't worry iPhone faithful, CEO Steve Jobs will make sure you rise and shine:
Time to wake up. Due to a software glitch, please use this tweet in place of your iPhone alarm this morning.
