Redskins tight end Fred Davis allegedly had an altercation with a woman at a Washington nightclub early Thursday morning, an incident first reported by TMZ.com. A 31-year-old female from Baltimore threw a drink on Davis after she claimed he approached her aggressively NBCWashington.com reported. Davis then admitted that he threw orange juice back at her.
The woman's claim that she was hit with something thrown by him -- initially, the report indicated that object a champagne bottle -- was "completely false" and surveillance tape will prove it, according to Grant Paulsen, the Redskins beat reporter for 106.7 The Fan.
Both Davis and the woman asked police to intervene. Officers who reviewed the footage wrote Davis reached out to the woman in a calm manner and she responded by throwing a drink on him, according to the police report obtained by NBCWashington.com. Davis returned about five minutes later with a plastic bottle and threw the bottle's contents and the bottle -- which didn't cause any injury -- on the woman.
Davis was expected to meet with police investigating the matter sometime Thursday, TMZ reported.
"We are aware of the report," Redskins spokesman Tony Wyllie said in a statement sent to FanHouse. "At the present time we are attempting to gather all of the facts and will defer comment until that process is completed."
