Jim Fassel might be sought after by the Denver Broncos, according to the teams' newly instated vice president, John Elway.

Elway said on his weekly radio show on 87.7 The Ticket in Denver on Friday that with Jim Harbaugh out of the running, he wants a coach with past NFL experience, and that he is considering ex-Giants head coach and former Broncos assistant coach Fassel, among others.

But despite Elway's comments and numerous rumors throughout the past month, Fassel told FanHouse Friday that he did not want to comment on the Denver gig and that nothing has been set up with the Broncos. He did say that he has appreciated the relationship between him and Elway, one that goes back for many years.

"I've known John [Elway] though all my years of coaching and him and I have a great relationship," said Fassel, who tutored Elway back when he was with the Broncos.

Fassel said that he and the Broncos are not in talks about the club's coaching vacancy at the moment.

"I haven't spoken to him in a week," Fassel said, referring to Elway. And as of now "nothing is set up."

The esteemed Fassel said he values being the coach of the UFL's Las Vegas Locomotives, a team that recently repeated as UFL champions back in November.

On Thursday, Fassel told Pro Football Examiner that he wouldn't mind staying put in the UFL.

"I love it here and would coach this team in Vegas for another 10-15 years," Fassel said.
