An alligator that was apparently painted orange, one of the colors used by the University of Florida sports teams, was spotted in the town of Venice, Fla., this week.
The Florida Wildlife Commission believes the creature was either painted or took on its orange hue as a result of coming into contact with some sort of chemical substance. Given the fact that UF's mascot also happens to be an alligator, Surge Desk is putting its money on the first explanation.
Here's video of the unnaturally tinted reptile.
On Twitter, reactions to the orange alligator were, as ever, highly amusing.
Orange alligator found in FL http://bit.ly/gzvoek Even alligators are spending too much time in the tanning beds. Curse you, Jersey shore.
@BrigidaMack Did anyone ask John Boehner if he's missing an alligator? #orange
They've found an orange alligator in Florida...sounds like a Jaws movie brought to you by Gatorade.
