Sarah Palin has released a video message regarding the deadly shooting rampage in Tucson, Ariz., over the weekend.

In the clip, which appeared on the website Vimeo this morning, the former vice presidential candidate expresses sympathy for the victims as well as criticizes "the irresponsible statements from people attempting to apportion blame for this terrible event."

Palin also took a jab at the media:

Within hours of a tragedy unfolding, journalists and pundits should not manufacture a blood libel that serves only to incite the very hatred and violence that they purport to condemn. That is reprehensible.

In the immediate aftermath of Saturday's attack, which killed six people and left Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords severely wounded, Palin came under fire for one of her websites that targeted Giffords' congressional district with a crosshairs graphic.

The site, which has been taken down, was part of a campaign against the Obama administration's health care bill.
