Though their 2011 prospects would look a lot sunnier with him in their rotation, the Yankees seem to be moving on without Andy Pettitte."I don't think he's determined if he's officially finished or not, but he's chosen at this stage at least not to start in 2011," Yankees general manager Brian Cashman told the New York Daily News Wednesday at the owners' meetings in Paradise Valley, Ariz. "If that ever changes he'll call us. We're not going to hound him or bother him."
In speaking with reporters later, Cashman was careful to clarify that that doesn't mean Pettitte has ruled out returning for the beginning of the 2011 season, just that the Yankees aren't going to sit around waiting for him to make a choice one way or another.
"He has chosen not to play," he told the New York Times. "There's nothing new. Andy Pettitte is not in play."
Speaking to the Journal News, Cashman added: "It's a misunderstanding. ... Nothing new or different. Exactly what I've been saying for the past month or two months."
