Charges Dropped Against Bucs' Mike Williams
He can now resume feeling good about his season, which helped the Bucs to a 10-6 record.
Williams was arrested on suspicion of being impaired by a Hillsborough County sheriff, but his urine test came back clean without traces of drugs. The arresting officer said Williams was driving erratically at 3 a.m. and locked him up, even though Williams passed a blood alcohol test.
It created some stir because Williams did not leave Syracuse University on good terms and his character was under scrutiny again. Head Coach Raheem Morris said Williams would be fined for the incident but Morris was not going to blast his rookie.
He allowed Williams to play in a game at San Francisco two days later.
Williams was named to The Sporting News All-Rookie team and is a finalist for NFL Rookie of the Year.. He led all first-year players in catches (65), receiving yards (964) and touchdowns (11). He was also the only rookie receiver to have a reception in each game this season. His 11 touchdowns set Buccaneers records for receiving touchdowns in a season.
