Syracuse-Villanova May Set Yet Another Attendance Record

Saturday's game between Syracuse and Villanova in the Carrier Dome may break the record for largest on-campus attendance for a college basketball game, a record the teams set the last season, which itself eclipsed the record the two schools set in 2006.

Syracuse announced that in excess of 33,000 tickets have already been sold. Last year's sellout crowd reached 34,616, but seats have been added to accommodate more fans. Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim has even been featured in a video to implore fans to snap up the remaining nose bleed seats.

It should be quite a show. Both teams are coming off losses and trail Pittsburgh in the Big East conference standings, but they still find themselves ranked among the top 10 in the nation. Syracuse hopes to have leading scorer Kris Joseph back after the junior sustained an injury to his head after scoring a lay up against Cincinnati last week. Joseph did not travel with the team Monday to Pittsburgh, where the Orange fell 74-66.

"I know I feel a lot better, and every day I get better," Joseph said. "Today, I'm just going to get some shots up and see how that feels. Tomorrow, I'll do a little bit more. Every day I have to do a little bit more to see how I feel. Hopefully, I'll be back."
