Beverage Company Creates Beef Salad Water

It's a brand-new year and many of us have resolved to eat more salad. And keeping that vow may easier than ever, since now there's a way to drink your greens, not just chew them.

New Yorker Till Krautkraemer is the founder of MeatWater, a beverage company that creates hearty -- and obviously meaty -- meal supplement drinks in highly unusual flavors like cheeseburger, barbecued chicken wings and Italian sausage.

To ring in the new year and toast to a healthier lifestyle, Krautkraemer has just released four new offbeat offerings that are vegan-friendly and devoid of animal byproducts.

The new flavors in his MeatWaterVOID line include poached salmon salad -- which supposedly tastes like a piece of salmon over lettuce, asparagus and mustard seeds -- and grilled chicken salad, a green-colored beverage said to taste like grilled chicken, spinach and onions, complete with a balsamic vinegar dressing.

Then there's grilled Thai beef salad, a dark reddish, "mildly spicy but SUPER beefy" flavor that supposedly tastes like flank steak, red leaf lettuce, cucumber and garlic.

And, finally, there's Krautkraemer's favorite: Caribbean shrimp salad, a light-pink concoction designed to taste like grilled shrimp, mixed greens and raspberries.

Yum. Thirsty yet?

Krautkraemer told AOL News that his latest creations taste exactly as advertised -- right down to the seasonings.

"The shrimp salad flavor is my favorite because it's really, really tasty. That's become the hero of the line because it can also double as an excellent vodka mixer," he explained. "All four drinks are light and totally refreshing, exploding with 300 different flavors engineered by our pros."

To really sink your teeth into the funky flavors, Krautkraemer advised drinking the beverages slightly warm. Like a fine wine, he said, the aromas and savory flavors are heightened when the drinks are served this way.

More important than flavor, though, is the functionality behind the wacky waters.

Krautkraemer said the drinks are the easiest way, hands down, to enjoy greens on the go.

"Everyone is so busy these days, but this is the fastest, easiest way to 'eat' a salad. We recommend drinking these in addition to your balanced diet, as a way to supplement your healthy lifestyle," explained Krautkraemer. "You are what you eat -- and what you drink."

Krautkraemer said chugging down one of his salads in a bottle is way more time-efficient than trying to make the salads yourself.

It's also less messy, he said, because you don't wind up with dressing stains on your shirt or spinach bits between your teeth.

It goes down the hatch and that's that.

Now, if you're still not sold on drinking your salmon salad, MeatWater offers about 60 other protein-packed, equally unique flavors.

According to Krautkraemer, the current top seller is Hungarian goulash, a reddish-brown thirst-quencher meant to taste like the authentic Hungarian stew dish comprised of beef, onions and paprika.

"That's our No. 1 flavor right now. I don't know how that happened, but people seem to love it."

Other MeatWater varieties inspired by international fare include Peking duck, tandoori chicken, liverwurst sandwich and bangers 'n' mash.

For those with a taste for the finer things in life, the company also offers "luxury" flavors such as escargots and moule frites, a Belgian delicacy containing mussels and french fries. No fancy restaurant required.

However, in Krautkraemer's opinion, the MeatWater flavor that takes the cake for most delicious is German sauerbraten.

He said that one tastes like the traditional German dish containing ox rump roast with vinegar, raisins, juniper, bay leaf and a red-wine-reduction sauce.

"I love the sauerbraten water because it's a little tart and sour. It wakes me right up. I'm not big on sweetness, so this is the one I can't get enough of."
