President Barack Obama works on his State of the Union speech with Director of Speechwriting Jon Favreau in the Oval Office.
The stakes are high for the president, who's expected to outline in the speech a fiscal plan for the country that includes a mix of spending freezes, cuts and investments. So will his State of the Union address help buoy his rising approval ratings? Or will it be a misfire with the American people, stopping any political momentum he had in its tracks?
