President Barack Obama will deliver his State of the Union speech at 9 p.m. EST today, and we've got proof that the commander in chief himself is taking a hands-on approach to the big address.

The stakes are high for the president, who's expected to outline in the speech a fiscal plan for the country that includes a mix of spending freezes, cuts and investments. So will his State of the Union address help buoy his rising approval ratings? Or will it be a misfire with the American people, stopping any political momentum he had in its tracks?
