Residents of a California condo complex are undoubtedly breathing a little easier after a big Monitor lizard that was roaming around the area finally got captured.
According to The Associated Press, a "Godzilla-like creature" had recently been spotted walking down a sidewalk in the city of Riverside. Local authorities eventually came and took it away.
John Welsh, spokesman for Riverside County Animal Services, thinks the 5-foot animal might have gotten out of its cage; he said he hopes the lizard's owner comes to retrieve it soon.
Here's some more details on the lizard from the AP:
Black-throated Monitor lizards are carnivorous, legal to own in California and native to the African grasslands and parts of Asia. Juveniles go for about $100 in pet stores, but they grow.
