FanHouse's college football staff provides you with a personal quarterback. We do the primary and secondary reads for you so you can properly start your day.

1. Iowa is losing the public relations battle. It held a news conference Wednesday to discuss the 13 players hospitalized for rhabdomyolysis but left out a few things. What sort of things? The head coach, the strength and conditioning coach, the athletic director, and any meaningful details about just what the heck the players were doing that got them hospitalized in the first place. Even New Coke was better received than Iowa's press conference, with national writers like ESPN.com's Adam Rittenberg and local voices such as HawkeyeHusker's Travis Justice criticizing Iowa's decision to hold the conference without top-level football decision makers present. "At last check of the huge contract that (Kirk) Ferentz has, one of the perks, he has use of a private plane! We know hindsight is always 20/20 but I'm pretty sure today would have been a good time to cash in some of the flight hours on jet to get back home," Justice wrote. As always, it's hard to argue with somebody when he's right.

2. Nebraska is ending a licensing agreement it had with Casey Martinez, the father of Huskers quarterback Taylor Martinez. The elder Martinez's company, Corn Fed, licensed the university's logos for clothing and other items. This agreement had been in place since 2007, well before Taylor Martinez enrolled at Nebraska, and Nebraska wasn't the only school Corn Fed had a licensing agreement with. However, in a statement, Nebraska AD Tom Osborne said, "We have recently learned that while Taylor Martinez has no ownership in Corn Fed Apparel, Inc., he is registered as the owner of the Corn Fed trademark, and also the CornFed.com domain name. Again, this arrangement does not violate any NCAA rules. However, because of the attention this agreement has caused, Casey Martinez recently initiated a conversation with Nebraska about ending the licensing relationship. Both parties agreed that it would be prudent to no longer have a licensing relationship between the University of Nebraska and Corn Fed." The Omaha World Herald reports the agreement generated about $500 in income for the university.

3. From the "That'll Show 'Em" Department: The Mountain West Conference has decided that departing member TCU will not get to host incoming member Boise State this fall. The teams will play in Boise instead. I was unable to track down an official release from the MWC about the matter, but I've got $5 that says the first draft included the words "Neener-neener-neener."

4. Former Georgia athletic director Damon Evans, pleaded guilty to DUI Jan. 19. The charges stemmed from a traffic stop June 30. A passenger in Evans' car was also charged. Evans, a former Bulldog football player, was sentenced to community service and one year of probation. He was also fined $750.

5. Glenn Guilbeau of TheTownTalk.com has a look at LSU coach Les Miles and tries to debunk the myth that Miles is Bo Schembechler Part II. I can think of at least 13,346 reasons in support of Guilbeau's argument.
