Chris Arreola Scores First-Round KO of Joey Abell
In victory, Arreola rose to 30-2 with his second straight win since losing April's majority decision to former light heavyweight (175 pounds) and cruiser weight (200 pounds) champion Tomasz Adamek (43-1, 28 knockouts) in April.
Stopped, himself, by Vitali Klitschko (41-2, 38 KOs) during the 10th round of his failed bid to earn the WBC belt in September of 2009, Arreola weighed in at 24.95 -- down from the 256 pounds he weighed for his previous fight, August's unanimous decision over Goossen Tutor Promotions' stablemate Manuel Quezada.
In defeating Abell (27-5, 26 KOs), Arreola ended his opponent's seven-fight winning streak, all of which were had come by knockout.
Arreola trained in Houston, Tex., and not having a car helped him to stay away from fast food restaurants.
