Break out the fireworks, today is the Chinese New Year!

All over the world, people are celebrating the Year of the Rabbit's arrival on the Chinese calendar with traditional parades, festivals and food.

The Year of the Rabbit is associated with tranquility, and individuals born under the sign -- Albert Einstein, Frank Sinatra and Johnny Depp, just to name a few -- are said to be gentle, wise and strong-willed.

But what about the animal sign for the Chinese New Year beginning in 2012?

Next up is the Year of the Dragon, which will span Jan. 23, 2012, through Feb. 9, 2013.

Occupying the fifth slot in the Chinese zodiac cycle, the Dragon is considered the mightiest of all horoscope signs, characterized by people who are quick-tempered, ambitious and passionate -- so not exactly rabbits. Dragon individuals are also known to be risk takers and as a result often experience great success in business.

With personality traits like these, it's no surprise that Courtney Love and Julius Caesar were both born during the Year of the Dragon.

The year itself can be a "wild" and "exhausting time," according to one astrologer. So Surge Desk encourages everyone to embrace the calmness of the rabbit until the fiery Year of the Dragon rolls around.
