Atlanta Thrashers defenseman Freddy Meyer collapsed on the ice Thursday night, during the Thrashers' home game against Calgary.
The incident happened during the second period of Calgary's 4-2 win over the Thrashers.
Meyer was skating on his own in the neutral zone when he suddenly fell to the ice. He tried to regain his footing and continue skating, but he went down a second time.
Meyer left the ice under his own power.
TSN's Bob McKenzie noted that Meyer's collapse may be concussion related, even though the video doesn't show anything happening that would have caused a concussion during the sequence before Meyer collapsed. McKenzie speculated it may have happened earlier in the game.
This is the second time the Thrashers have seen a player collapse on the ice during a game. Goalie Ondrej Pavelec collapsed during the team's season opener in Atlanta Oct. 8. He was hospitalized, but eventually returned to action.
