Prep Rally's Cameron Smith is right: Orting (WA) High School's buzz beater over Charles Wright (WA) High School is eerily reminiscent of the Duke-Kentucky, Grant Hill-to-Christian Laettner game-winner from the 1992 Elite Eight game. Sure, the high school players are shorter and not quite as athletic. But obvious physical differences aside, it's hard not to think back to a simpler time, where short shorts and high-top fades were still in vogue, and Dick Vitale hadn't yet fallen madly in love with Mike Krzyzewski and the Blue Devils.
Smith points out that "Just like 19 years ago, there were playoff ramifications to (Isaac) Lewis' shot, too. The made bucket gave Orting a 47-46 win, a victory which pushed the Cardinals into the playoffs."
Like Laettner, here's to hoping Lewis goes on to have a great college and pro career. A word of advice, though: stay out of the real estate business.
