Maria Schneider, 'Last Tango in Paris' Star, Dead at 58 [VIDEO TRIBUTE]

Actress Maria Schneider, best known for her star turn alongside Marlon Brando in Bernardo Bertolucci's 1972 film "Last Tango in Paris," has died. She was 58 years old.

According to French media reports, family members said she passed away this morning in Paris after suffering from a long illness.

Schneider's other film credits include a co-starring role with Jack Nicholson in 1975's "The Passenger," but she is perhaps most often associated with the highly provocative "butter scene" from "Last Tango in Paris."

"I felt a little raped, both by Marlon and by Bertolucci," she told The Daily Mail in 2007. "After the scene, Marlon didn't console me or apologize. Thankfully, there was just one take."
