Whatever the story is, the patriarch of the Simms family allegedly threatened to hit ESPN college football analyst Desmond Howard over comments he made on-air during the season about Matt being one of the worst quarterbacks in the SEC, according to Howard's Twitter feed. Both are in Dallas for the Super Bowl.

Update: According to The Associated Press, Phil Simms acknowledged through a CBS spokeswoman that he had "a private conversation that became heated." However, Simms denied that there was any physical threat during the argument. "At no time was there ever a chance of any physical confrontation or that I felt the police officer assigned to me by the event planners for my appearance needed to separate the two of us," Simms said.
