Mississippi State Suspends Ravern Johnson After Twitter Controversy

After stirring up an already volatile Mississippi State team with negative comments on Twitter, Ravern Johnson has been suspended for Saturday's game against LSU. The suspension was announced by press release sent by the university Friday.

Johnson, a 6-foot-7 senior swingman for the Bulldogs, leads the team with 17.7 points a game.

The suspension stems from some "inappropriate tweets" Johnson posted after the team's 75-61 loss to Alabama. Johnson complained about his role in the offense and his lack of touches. Freshman center Renardo Sidney joined the fray before both accounts were deleted amidst a firestorm of angry fan reactions late Wednesday. On Thursday, MSU coach Rick Stansbury banned the use of Twitter by players.
