The Green Bay Packers were fitted for their Super Bowl rings before the game, a motivational ploy by coach Mike McCarthy that players now say they took as a huge gesture of confidence that the coach had in his team.

Running back Brandon Jackson, in particular, said he really believed that it was more than a motivational ploy and was a sign that their coach believed in them.

"It was a great feeling when you know you won before you even played the game," Jackson said, per Gregg Rosenthal of Pro Football Talk. "You continue to dream about this, night after night, day after day,"

Added Packers guard Daryn Colledge, "I think it just sets that mental mindset that you've got to go out there and you've got something to accomplish."

And then the Packers went out there and accomplished it.
