Is Rep. Chris Lee, R-N.Y., a fit, fun and classy guy?

Better question: Did Rep. Chris Lee, a married father, try to score a date with a woman on Craigslist by telling her that he's a fit, fun and classy guy?

Gawker has obtained e-mail correspondence between a 34-year-old woman and a man she claims is Lee. The man -- who appeared to use a Gmail account previously confirmed to be Lee's -- responded to an ad the woman had posted; he told her he worked as a lobbyist, was divorced and was "a very fit fun classy guy." An accompanying photograph, sans shirt, bears a striking resemblance to the congressman, who is now claiming his personal e-mail account was hacked.

We'll be honest -- we didn't know much about Rep. Lee, who serves a district in upstate New York, until now. Here's what we've learned.

1. He helps run his father's foundation
Lee's father established the Patrick P. Lee Foundation, which provides support for medical and mental health initiatives, including cancer treatment and research. Rep. Lee, like his three siblings, is a director of the foundation.

2. He has business expertise
According to his biography, Lee got his start in his family's high-tech machine business, helping it grow into a multinational enterprise. Thanks in part to this experience, he was asked to join the House Republican Economic Recovery Working Group shortly after he was elected to his first term in 2008.

3. He's willing to cross the aisle
Lee has been praised for his bipartisan efforts in Congress. He has worked closely with New York Democratic Rep. Brian Higgins, who represents Buffalo.

4. He's a dairy advocate
Earlier this year Lee was chosen as the co-chair of the bipartisan Congressional Dairy Farmers Caucus. Western New York's many dairy farms have been hard-hit by the recession, and Lee has pledged to advocate on their behalf.

5. He believes in transparency
In 2009 Lee took to the floor of the House to speak in support of a petition that would make proposed legislation available to the public for 72 hours before a congressional vote. "Millions of Americans are frustrated with the lack of transparency in the federal government, and rightfully so," he said.
