Cee Lo Green, Muppets and Gwyneth Paltrow: Weirdest Grammy Mashup Ever? [VIDEOS]

It's a crazy, mixed-up world.

Following what has become a Grammy Awards tradition, the show's producers announced this year's mashups in which artists spanning different genres and generations will share the stage for one-of-a-kind performances.

While the collaborations can sometimes result in inspired moments, as was the case when Lady Gaga and Elton John teamed up at the 2010 Grammys, just as often they disappoint (see the show's cringe-worthy all-star tribute to Sly Stone).

This year, the mashups include some fairly intuitive pairings: Dr. Dre will reunite with Eminem, and Bob Dylan will join the folk rock groups Mumford & Sons and the Avett Brothers. Christina Aguilera, in an attempt at redemption from her Super Bowl nightmare, will join Jennifer Hudson, Martina McBride, Yolanda Adams and Florence Welch in honoring soul legend Aretha Franklin.

While all of that makes some sense, the mashup with the most potential to either dazzle or dismay is the grouping of Cee Lo Green, Gwyneth Paltrow and an as-yet-unnamed assortment of Muppets for a version of Green's hit "Forget You" (aka "F--k You!"). As the Atlantic's Kevin Fallon put it:
What, exactly, will these puppets be doing? The profane track doesn't lend itself easily to a Sesame Street-style sing-a-long. Will they be going the Avenue Q route? Given the PG nature of the Grammy proceedings, that would most definitely be puzzling.
On Twitter, the response has been similarly bemused.

Of course, Green is no stranger when it comes to following what some might consider slightly off-kilter impulses.
