What a pleasant surprise. After we were told that Al Horford (back) was going to miss Saturday night's game against Charlotte, now we're learning that Horford will not only play on Saturday, but will start at the power forward alongside Jason Collins. A bit of a lineup change, since we had already erased Horford from our Saturday lineups, but now that he's going to start he needs to be reinserted back into fantasy rosters immediately.
Collins has no fantasy value at center and with the return of Horford neither does Marvin Williams in shallow leagues. I say "shallow leagues" because I realize that just because Collins is starting doesn't mean he's going to be out there on the court for more than 18 or so minutes. It's more of a formality, with Zaza Pachulia also logging some minutes in the middle. Neither of those guys are worth looking at.
Josh Smith and Horford are must-starts in your lineups, however. They'll see the bulk of the minutes up front, as long as Horford's back hold up.
In other injury news, Michael Beasley is now out until after the All-Star break. This is good news for Wes Johnson who has played well at small forward, despite Friday's game against the Pacers. You can blame that on the fact that Johnson picked up four fouls in 15 minutes. Other than that, Johnson has value from three-point land and with his defensive numbers.
Wayne Ellington and Corey Brewer also get extra touches. Ellington had 14 points on Friday, shooting 6-of-15 from the floor. Brewer has better defensive numbers, so if those are what you're chasing choose Brewer over Ellington.
Jonny Flynn is also dealing with an injury. He tweaked his groin on Friday night, giving way to Sebastian Telfair. Considering that Luke Ridnour is also out, Telfair might have some nice pick-and-plug value for daily leagues. Keep an eye on the Flynn injury. Telfair and Ellington could benefit from his pulled groin.
