Peter Forsberg to Retire After 2 Game Return With Avalanche
Currently 10 points out of the eighth and final playoff spot, the Avalanche are occupying the 14th spot in the West needing to jump over six teams in the final two months of the season to get into a playoff position.
Out of the league for three years, and spending the past two seasons playing in his native Sweden, Forsberg started practicing with Colorado a couple of weeks ago before officially signing a contract with the club he had previously won two Stanley Cups and an MVP award with. He's also a highly decorated international player, winning Gold Medals in two Olympic games (1994 and 2006), as well as numerous medals at the World Championships.
He ends his career with 249 goals and 636 assists in what was an injury-plagued 13-year career that saw him be one of the best and most physically dominant two-way players in the NHL.
More to come as Forsberg officially makes his announcement...
