When your nickname is the same as the evil wizard out to get Harry Potter, the odds are against you.

Nevertheless, Charlie, the 14-year-old white cat who became an Internet star because he resembled Harry's foe, Lord Voldemort, has been adopted.

Charlie (left), an abandoned 14-year-old cat, is said to look a bit like Lord Voldemort from the "Harry Potter" film saga, portrayed by Ralph Fiennes.

The kitty lost its ears and part of its nose to cancer and had been treated at a shelter in Southampton, England.

Britain's Daily Echo is now reporting that the shelter was deluged with calls, offering to give the pussy a home.

The woman who adopted Charlie "is not a Harry Potter fan, she just heard of his plight for a nice, quiet home and she could offer him that," the Echo reports.

According to The Daily Mail, workers at the charity say visitors had been spooked by the white cat's resemblance to Voldemort, played by Ralph Fiennes in the film series, but hoped that a family of "Potter" fans would magically appear to adopt him.

Despite his villainous appearance, Charlie loves cuddling and would do best in a home with no other pets, according to Marie Loveridge, the center's animal welfare assistant.
