Chaos continues to reign in Bahrain, where thousands of anti-government demonstrators have flouted a ban on protests and soldiers have dialed up the force of their response.

Reports out of Bahrain are all over the place, with many saying that the military is using live gunfire on protesters. In addition to gunfire, there are reports of soldiers using rubber bullets and tear gas.

News outlets are reporting that at least four people have died and many others have been injured, but one member of the Bahraini parliament denied that there have been any deaths.

Videos from today show the panic and confusion in the streets of the capital city of Manama. This footage shows the aftermath following the government's use of tear gas to clear protesters from Pearl Square, a famous Manama landmark.

Yet this video from The Associated Press shows determined protesters attempting to return to Pearl Square.

In this footage, protesters in Manama begin running after hearing shots fired.

A doctor who spoke with Al-Jazeera from a hospital not far from Pearl Square said that he had witnessed many protesters with head wounds.

And this disturbing footage, which purportedly shows shots fired on a crowd of protesters, contains images of a wounded man.

This footage purports to show pro-government demonstrations.
