As Mel Brooks famously stated, it's good to be the king. That is, of course, when you really are the king.

Police in Michigan say one man learned the hard way that you won't get treated like royalty just because you claim to have regal lineage.

Officers in Warren say Joseph Lawrence Borowiak tried to yank a pack of cigarettes away from a 7-Eleven clerk after claiming he didn't need to pay for the smokes because he was "the king," according to MSNBC.

Borowiak entered the convenience store at around 6:30 a.m. Saturday and asked for Marlboros before allegedly telling the employee, "The king doesn't pay for cigarettes," The Detroit News reports.

The clerk apparently disagreed and refused to hand over the cigarettes.

That's when police say Borowiak attempted to grab the Marlboros and threw a punch at the employee.

The worker held onto the cigarettes and the perp reportedly fled. Officers arrested Borowiak outside a nearby a funeral home and say they were forced to use a Taser to subdue him.

"The King" has been charged with unarmed robbery and resisting arrest.
