Nicholas Courtney, who played Brigadier Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart on "Doctor Who," has died at the age of 81. Courtney's agent told the BBC that the actor passed away after a short illness.
Playing "the Brigadier" was the defining role of his career. Courtney first appeared on "Doctor Who" in 1965, playing a different role, and first became the Brigadier in 1968.
