Ohio Man Proposes to Girlfriend on TV Commercial

An Ohio man made an unusual pitch on a TV commercial this week: He used his air time to propose to his girlfriend.

David Jones told Dee Horton to look for him appearing as a superhero on a spot at noon on Cleveland's WJW-TV. Horton, who works at a hair salon, was at work during the designated time.

The TV station had sent a crew to catch her surprise on film, telling the unsuspecting girlfriend that they were doing a segment on keratin treatments.

But instead of seeing Jones dressed as a superhero, Horton saw him on screen talking about their relationship and the obstacles they'd overcome, including her ongoing battle with thyroid cancer.

"You're not even here for the keratin?" Horton asked the TV crew as reality began to set in.

Jones proposed on the commercial and then, seconds later, was standing in the hair salon, proposing in person.

Horton said yes.
