At the ripe young age of 20, Bristol Palin is writing her first memoir, to be published in June. The Amazon page for "Not Afraid of Life" went up today, announcing a release date of June 21. It will be published by William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins. William Morrow, says its website, has an "80-year legacy of bringing the highest quality fiction and nonfiction to the broadest possible audience."
Whether Palin's new book will live up to the publisher's promise of delivering the "highest quality" nonfiction remains to be seen.
We must admit, though, that Palin has lived a rather eventful life for someone with just two decades under her belt. She went from the governor's daughter, essentially unknown outside of her state of Alaska, to being the catalyst for a debate about teen pregnancy and sex education. Then, Sarah Palin and John McCain lost the election, and Bristol and Levi Johnston, the father of her baby, went through some very public teen drama. (For more, see "The Definitive Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston Relationship Timeline.")
Against all odds, and under a cloud of suspicion, Bristol Palin ended up coming in third on the dancing extravaganza. What was once a simple reality show competition became a proxy for political debate, as some said that Sarah Palin's rabid fans were manipulating the viewer vote to boost Bristol's scores.
If the allegations were true, perhaps those same folks will help propel "Not Afraid of Life" to the top of the best-seller list.
