Though Chris Medina's winning streak on "American Idol" ended surprisingly when he didn't make the Top 24 back on Feb. 23, some of his dreams are still coming true as his personal story continues to touch millions of people.

Fans of "American Idol" know the heart-breaking story of Medina, whose fiancee, Juliana Ramos, was critically injured in a 2009 car accident while driving home from work. Ramos' face and skull were severely fractured, and she suffered a traumatic brain injury. Since then, Medina has stuck by Ramos and been one of her primary caretakers as she continues to require around-the-clock care as a result of her injuries.

Last week, Medina was on Ryan Seacrest's radio show to promote his new single, "What Are Words," a song that was written for him by "Idol" producer Rodney Jerkins. Jerkins was inspired to write the song after watching the episode that featured Medina and Ramos' story.

Medina told Seacrest that the Laurus Foundation had helped him and Ramos' mother set up the Juliana Recovery Fund to raise money for her care. "We set it up before the show aired in the hopes that someone would find out about it, but we never knew the story would blow up the way it did," he said.

It was then that Seacrest surprised Medina with a check for $35,000 from Guthy-Renker, the company that sells such products as Proactiv and Wen on TV. Medina was overcome with emotion and almost at a loss for words.

"This is what I've always wanted," Medina said softly, his voice filled with emotion.

Moments later, Medina was in for another surprise when Seacrest's next guests walked into the studio, actor Topher Grace and Ryan Kavanaugh, producer of Grace's new movie, "Take Me Home Tonight." They told Medina they were compelled to match the donation after listening to the interview.

"When Ryan gave you the donation from Guthy-Renker -- you broke up, and we broke up," Kavanaugh told Medina. "Topher and I wanted to do something special for you as well. We wanted to match the Guthy-Renker donation. We talked about what defines a man, and you define a man."

Additionally, Kavanaugh's Relativity Media production company committed 1 percent of the movie's box office earnings to the fund. Relativity Media aims to raise a total of $150,000 for Ramos.

The treatments and therapies for Ramos' brain injury are exorbitant. According to the Laurus Foundation website, just one round of recommended hyperbaric oxygen treatment can cost $8,000.
