This year the headlining acts are intriguing, offering a little bit for everyone. Names such as Duran Duran, B.o.B., the Wu-Tang Clan, Bright Eyes, Cee Lo Green and Queens of the Stone Age offer something for the whole family.
Wu-Tang Clan will hit the stage on Thursday, March 17, at the Austin Music Hall. They will be joined by the legendary ska band Fishbone and DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown, who is better known as Grammy-winning artist Erykah Badu.
Yoko Ono has been confirmed as the festival's featured speaker. She will speak at the Music and Media Conference, as well as perform at a Chimera Music night on Saturday, March 19, at The Elysium.
The festival also announced that legendary lyricist Bob Geldof will be the Keynote Speaker and Showcase performer. The man who was once referred to by U2's Bono as his "big brother" will speak on St. Patrick's Day, which is March 17.
Other highly anticipated music acts include J Mascis, Braids, DeVotchKa, The Raveonettes, ANR, Ted Leo, !!! (Chk Chk Chk), Tune-Yards, and soul singer Raphael Saadiq.
The South by Southwest film festival will include a short by the team of director Spike Jonze and Grammy-award winning band Arcade Fire called "Scene From The Suburbs." You can view this film on Monday, March 14, at Alamo Lamar A.
Also of note, the festival will close with a World Premiere viewing of the film "The King Of Luck," which is a documentary about legendary country musician Willie Nelson. The documentary is directed by Billy Bob Thornton. It can be seen on Saturday, March 19.
