Sandra Bullock continues her generous practice of giving $1 million to the American Red Cross.
Tsunami Relief: Network for Good
"This contribution is vitally important, as the Red Cross works to provide critical assistance and essential relief items in this time of urgent need for so many people in Japan," the relief organization said.
Bullock is one of Hollywood's most generous givers. She has donated $1 million to the American Red Cross at least three times previously: after the Sept. 11 attacks, the Indonesian tsunami in 2004 and Hurricane Katrina. She has also given hundreds of thousands of dollars to a high school in New Orleans damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

Dozens of celebrities have used their social network accounts, including Twitter, to urge fans to support the Red Cross with small donations to the Japan relief efforts. The group has received $2.6 million since last Friday, in $10 donations sent through cell phone text messages, it said.Overall, the American Red Cross has raised about $47 million in the United States since the earthquake and tsunami struck Japan.
The U.S. organization has passed on $10 million of those donations to the Japanese Red Cross for work on the ground in Japan, it said.
