Elizabeth Taylor Dies at 79: Celebrities Remember Her on Twitter

"Elizabeth Taylor takes final bow. Never more beautiful than as Maggie the cat. Never more actor impressive than as Martha in Virginia Woolf," Rolling Stone film critic Peter Travers wrote after the breaking news that the beloved star of Hollywood's golden age had died this morning.

Taylor, remembered for Academy Award-winning performances, her many marriages and her generous contributions to the fight against AIDS, passed away from congestive heart failure at Cedars-Sinai Hospital in California. She was 79.
