On the second Sunday of every month, former exotic dancer Crystal Deans leads a pole dancing course for church-goers in Old Town Spring, Texas.
Dubbed "Pole Fitness for Jesus," the class empowers women and helps them get in shape -- all to the sounds of "upbeat contemporary Christian music," Deans told Fox 26.
The instructor says she knew exotic dancing wasn't for her, but realized she could use her experience performing to help other women connect with the teachings of Jesus Christ.
"I actually decided to take the part I like about [exotic dancing] and bring it here," said Deans, who insists her classes emphasize faith and fitness. "I don't teach women to be strippers."
Eager participants, like Tiffany Booth, bring church programs to gain admittance.
"I do feel a spiritual connection whenever you have the music on, and it's singing about lifting you up and being closer to God," Booth told ABC 2. "You do feel that."
There's no nudity, but there are high heels -- shoes that Deans insists help tone the legs.
