An Oregon postal worker has been suspended without pay after he was literally caught with his pants around his ankles, defecating in one of the yards along his delivery route.
According to KGW News, Portland resident Don Derfler was home baby-sitting his son last week when he spotted the mailman going potty -- as opposed to postal -- across the street by his neighbor's house.
An official with the U.S. Postal Service said it is investigating the mailman's special delivery.
"We're taking this very seriously, and I really want to apologize to our customers and to the public," said U.S. Postal Service representative Ron Anderson. "I've worked for the Postal Service for many years and have never heard of an incident like this, and I hope I never do again."
The evidence was quickly cleaned up, but the neighborhood still wasn't pleased.
"Nature calls at inopportune times," said Derfler's neighbor, Dennis. "But jeez, go back to your rig and find a gas station, for crying out loud."
