He munches and crunches a light bulb straight out of the package. He climbs a staircase of sharpened swords barefoot. He pushes a pin straight into one cheek, through his mouth, and out the other side of his amazing mouth.
His name is "Lucky the Painproof Man" and he also wears a dangerously overstretched Speedo bathing suit.
I had the honor to serve as one of the three judges of this "Unbelievable Talent Contest" along with Ripley's Times Square GM Michael Hirsch, sideshow star Al Cadabra, and Ripley's V.P. of Exhibits and Archives.
To the other contestants -- Zack Anthrax, who broke an arrow with the pointy part against his chest; the Braggart Family Trio, who juggled knives while balancing on rola bolas; and Jim Stilianos, who mashed his face in broken glass -- congratulations on a great show. And we hope to see you get your freak on next year.
