(Dec. 30) -- If a man likes to wear women's panties, that's his own business – except if he's using them to mask a crime.

Police in Franklin, Ind., say 54-year-old Larry Bernard burst into the Clark Oil gas station on Monday evening, armed with a 12-inch knife and wearing ladies' underwear on his head.

"He grabbed a female customer around the waist and walked her closer to the checkout counter," according to a statement issued by the Franklin Police Department.

"He pointed the long knife towards the two employees standing behind the counter and demanded all of the money, cigarettes and a lighter," the statement says.

Despite the robber's unusual headgear, witnesses were able to provide a description, and two officers later found Bernard "staggering in an alley near his home," police say.

A knife, two packs of cigarettes, money and panties matching the description were allegedly found when police frisked the suspect.

Bernard has been charged with felony robbery and misdemeanor battery and is being held at Johnson County Jail in lieu of $21,000 bond.
