In an exclusive first look for Sphere, first lady Michelle Obama offers a glimpse inside the executive mansion as it's all done up for the holidays.
"For the Obama family, Christmas and the New Year has always a time to reflect on our many blessings, to rejoice in the pleasure of spending time with our family and our friends and to renew our commitment to one another and to the causes that we believe in," Obama says in the short video. "I wanted to continue that part of the tradition during our first holiday season at the White House, which as we always say, is the 'People's House.' "
More than 50,000 visitors will traipse through the White House this holiday season to see the handiwork of the staff of the East Wing and 92 volunteers from 24 states. Together, they worked 3,400 hours to put together the traditional holiday decorations.
Obama said the goal was to "include as many people in as many places in as many ways as we can." To do that, the White House sent 800 ornaments left over from previous administrations to 60 community groups around the nation. They sent them back decorated with local landmarks for display at the White House.
