LOS ANGELES (AP) — A judge says Chris Brown should remain on supervised probation despite doing well with the terms of his sentence in a case filed after he beat then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009. Superior Court George Lomeli agreed with a prosecutor who said Thursday that the R&B singer should continue to check in at a probation office until after he completes the rest of his community labor.
Oscar lands in Los Angeles after Chicago flight
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Passengers on United Airlines Flight 531 from Chicago to Los Angeles didn't just get to travel with a world-famous celebrity, they had their picture taken with him. The affable celebrity was Oscar — as in the Academy Awards statuette — who rode in first class alongside film academy president Tom Sherak before making the rounds through the commercial flight to pose for photos.

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Ranchera music giant Vicente Fernandez says he will retire after tours of Latin America, Spain and the U.S., ending a four-decade career. Fernandez told the Mexican station Televisa Wednesday night that he had decided to leave the stage when a reporter asked him at a press conference if he had ever considered retiring.

(AP) — Attorneys who accuse Greg Mortenson of defrauding readers in his best-selling "Three Cups of Tea" say his case is no different from that of James Frey, who admitted on the "Oprah Winfrey Show" that he lied in his memoir "A Million Little Pieces." Lawyers: Reality TV producer hopes to avoid trial
CANCUN, Mexico (AP) — Lawyers for a U.S. reality television producer facing trial for allegedly murdering his wife at a Mexican resort said Thursday they hope to persuade a judge to drop the charges and free their client. Jaime Cancino Leon, an attorney for former "Survivor" producer Bruce Beresford-Redman, said he had found inconsistencies in the prosecution case, but did not elaborate.

Rap mogul arrested on Vegas traffic, drug charges
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Rap music mogul Marion "Suge" Knight is facing a March court date in Las Vegas following his arrest on a 2009 traffic warrant and a new misdemeanor drug charge, authorities said Thursday. The former Death Row Records executive, 46, was stopped driving a black Bentley with California license plates about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday on a street just off Flamingo Road west of the Las Vegas Strip, Officer Laura Meltzer said.
Clemons' nephew to play sax on Springsteen tour

50 Cent visits famine victims in Somalia, Kenya
NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — Rapper 50 Cent is teaming up with the World Food Program to see firsthand the effects of hunger in Somalia and Kenya. The rap star flew to Dolo, Somalia, on Wednesday. Tens of thousands of women and children have fled there over the last year to flee a devastating famine that killed tens of thousands of people across Somalia.
